My son Steven, 8 years old, had the golden opportunity to study guitar with Joseph during the year we lived in Boulder, 2006-2007.

When we started with Joseph, I was apprehensive about the 1 hour lesson with my “little” guy. But after about 3 lessons Steven said, ‘Mom, if I could have a 5 hour lesson it would be like taking 5 years by the end of the year! Do you think he’d let me?’

Often when Steven hadn’t practiced like he knew he should, he dreaded going to his lesson, but by the time we were home, he was excited to show me what was ‘new’ for this week. Joseph taught Steven a variety of music and helped to expand his interest in many types of music. He learned rhythms, chords, some classical music, current pop music, and he learned them well. Many people can’t tell him from the recordings. For me, he is a joy to listen to. I only regret that I didn’t ask Joseph about the 5 hour lessons!

Joseph is an exceptional teacher. If you truly want to learn to play the guitar well, and can listen and are willing to put in the practice hours, I highly recommend him.
